MMORPG / World of Warplanes
« dnia: Lutego 27, 2013, 07:35:23 pm  »
Każdy, kto gra w World of Tanks i stara się na bieżąco śledzić poczynania Wargaming.Net wie, że studio tworzy już dwa spinoffy w postaci World of Warplanes i World of Warships.
To pierwsze jest właśnie w fazie zamkniętych testów beta. Znalazłem dziś zupełnie przypadkiem stronę, na której trwa wciąż rozdawanie kodów pozwalających wziąć udział w tych zamkniętych testach. Adres: http://www.gameitems.com/

FanFik / Warsztat literacki - koncepty i eksperymenty
« dnia: Stycznia 09, 2013, 07:48:00 pm  »
"zastanowienia" elementów i momentów gry i ogólnie traktowania wszystkiego... nie-do-końca-znowu-tak-serio. Przyda się też ciutka wiedzy dot. Magic: The Gathering.

Final Fantasy VII – Part Deux: Electric Bogaloo
or 'How I Wrecked the Canon and How Glorious It Was'

by Nestor

Prologue
or 'Floating in space is boooring'

Want to know the single most interesting fact about the cosmos?

It's veeery vast. And veeery empty.

Okay, it might have been two facts, but whatever...

It's also damn boring.

I know it from personal experience – as right now I'm floating in this vast space, hoping to be finally catched by the gravity of some planet I'll be inevitably passing near.

I suppose your head right now is full of questions like 'How in the hell are you even alive or breathing?!', 'How did you manage to get there?!' or finally 'Who the fuck are you and why should I be interested in your boring stories?!'. Hmph, guess I should start at the beginning.

You may call me Nestor Sukhoi, or Nestor the Shadowstalker... or alternatively 'that annoying asshole'. Of course, before you ask, it's not my real name – I might have had one, but after living for some time in the Multiverse you tend to forget about such unnecessary details. I used to be a normal mortal being, living somewhere in the Milky Way Galaxy, on this insignificant planet called Earth. That is, before going through... well, I'd call it 'revelation', of sorts.

It looked to be a pretty normal day for me – weather was a bit snowy, but what can you expect in the winter? Went to attend some lectures in the local college, got back home, had some dinner, played video games for a while... Finally went out to get some fresh air in the evening – and, well, that turned out to be... a mistake. And by mistake I mean 'a careless idiot of a driver racing through a crossroads I was unfortunate enough to be walking across'. I remember a loud sound of tires skidding on a snowy street, blinding lights of that stupid car... and then nothing. When I woke up, at first I was floating in emptiness, but one blink of an eye was enough for... 'world' to materialise around me. And no, it wasn't Heaven or even Hell. It was the beginning of my new life.

Surprisingly enough, I haven't actually died. Why? See, here's the thing – in every world of the Multiverse there's a very small chance to be born with a gift of... well, everyone calls it 'Spark'. Of course, that still doesn't mean anything – this 'Spark' remains asleep – sort of – until awoken in some way... usually through some sort of traumatic experience. And guess what? - that car accident was enough to awake the Spark inside me. Okay, but you are probably asking 'But what in Death's name does that Spark do?'. Here's the answer – Spark  makes you a Planeswalker – it allows it's... 'carrier' to traverse the multiple worlds of the Multiverse, learn and harness different types of magic – yes, MAGIC – and automatically makes you immortal and immune to aging. Although by 'immortal' I mean 'you won't die of old age', not 'you're Implacable Man from now on', but it's still cool.

Also, most of the magic found in the Multiverse is bound to one of the five universal... let's call them 'schools of magic'. Those are Green, White, Blue, Red and Black. Green mages usually keep away from any civilization, prefer to stay in the wild, where they gain power over various beasts inhabiting it. White-ies are big about law and order, and have a lot of suport spells at their disposal. Blues can usually be summed up by 'For Science!' boast – and their tendency to mind screw their unfortunate opponents. Reddies value personal freedom, as well as being on the pure offense – if you're looking for classic Fireball or Lightning Bolt, that's them. And Blacks tend to rely only on themselves – as well as use every dirty trick in their books to gain the upper hand.

And me? I'm Red/White sort – quite big on personal freedom, but also seeing the need of some universal order to not let the world fall into anarchy. My mix of White and Red magic usually allows me to lay waste to my enemies with Red's wide choice of offensive spells, while keeping me safe using summoned creatures buffed with White.

So, before you ask – yeah, the world of Magic: The Gathering is fucking real. Not that I really mind that, you know...

But, returning to the reality of my situation – I'm still floating in the empty cosmic space, with no planet visible for my eyes. How did I get into such hopeless situation?

My luck acted once again against me and I was attacked by a some Blue-wielding mage. I always had troubles with them – guess it has a lot to do with their magic-disruptive spells. I was losing it, so I used an 'emergency escape route' and performed blind Planeswalk. I don't have to say where it landed me in, do I? And before you ask – I need to be on the stable ground to be able to orientate my position in the Multiverse in order to perform another Planeswalk.

That said... I'm still bored.
Bored, bored, bored.
I can't help but yawn at my situation.

And then, my boredom abruptly ends. Because I finally see some planet quite close. I'm also lucky enough to see the illuminated part of the planet, so I can try to recognize where I'm going.

Let's see... A lot of blue, and some green... Means it looks quite like 'my' Earth. And another look reveals... Three continents – one to the east, one to the west, and last one on the north. Aand there's also a visible crater on the northern conti-

Stop. Three continents, with northern one having a crater, most probably from some sort of meteor.

Meteor.

My eyes widen as I understand what this place is.

'Lifestream. Planet.' I whisper. Looks like I've found the world of Final Fantasy VII.

Before I can do anything else, though, I feel myself being pulled by the gravity of the Planet, and slowly entering the atmosphere of the planet. Guess it's time to brace for impact.

...
…Whew. I actually survived the re-entry. And I did it relatively unscathed.

As I flick dust off my dark red (mixed with black) traveller coat, I take a look at my surroundings. Judging by the position of local sun, it must be close to evening... Although I might be mistaken and it's still morning. I'm standing on a small hill overlooking some forest on the south. I turn to the north to see what's there – huh, terrain starts to appear more and more mountainous. For some reason I have suspicions as to where I've landed... but I still need hard evidence to confirm it. Luckily, there's a visible path nearby, so someone must be going this way at least once in a while. And hey – there's even some sign visible in the distance, so hopefully I can quickly orientate myself as to where did I exactly land.

Before I make any further move, though, time to check my equipment. You know, just in case I lost something during my re-entry into the atmosphere.

Let's see... The Book? Check, obviously. My yataghan longsword? Check. What about shorter kukri? Also there. Pistol? Of course. Goggles and rebreather of the gasmask? Still hanging on my neck. Hm... What about a phone? Quick check of the chest pocket confirms it's still where it should be. Okay, guess I still have everything on-
Wait, I nearly forgot. The blade under my left shoulder? Luckily enough, still in it's place – as is the 'hook' of sorts on top of it. Now I'm sure I have everything. Time to go, then.

I require less than ten minutes to reach that road sign. Quick check aaand...

'Nibelheim – 20 miles'

Hmph. Guess I was right and I'm close to the birthplace of the main hero. What was his name? Storm? No, wait – Cloud, I think.

It's also about time I thought over what to do from now on. Obvious choice for me should be to perform Planeswalk and get the hell outta this place – after all, there's not much for me. This world's problems will be solved even without my help and everything will be more or less okay. And yet...

… And yet, a certain, fun-loving part of me says: eh, since you've already got there, why not enjoy yourself for a while? Hmm, 'enjoy myself', but ho-

The revelation hits me like a train. And I can't help but allow the wide smile to show on my filthy mug.

Yup, it's 'rock the canon boat' time. Ooh, I'm SO gonna enjoy this...

As I start walking along the road to Nibelheim, quite relaxed, I can't help but whistle good ol' tune:

„Home, home on the wastes...”

Temacik o najbardziej chyba znanym cyklu strategii ( + jedna strzelanka ofkorz).

I kropka.
